Just a few weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in East Coast Creative's Creating with the Stars. I made it through to Round 3 when I was eliminated for my horse couch. :( Sad day! Since I was already in the process of this makeover, I decided to finish the makeover, pretend I was still in the contest, and finish up the space in the same amount of time as the other contestants. I really wanted to share my space with EC2 readers to share with them what would have been my final entry in Round 4's Home Decor challenge.
So I had the opportunity to head out of town for a few days to make over a bedroom for a couple who is adopting three siblings, one of whom is Kk. This couple has been trying for over 10 years to have children of their own. Kk is the youngest out of the three. I made over one of the couple's guest bedrooms into a space for Kk as part of my entry for Competing with the Stars. I did not let my elimination in Round 3 stop me from finishing Round 4's theme Home Decor, and I am so glad I continued on! The space is so bright and airy. There are not too many personal touches in the space due to time constraints, as I am one who likes to sew and create things with my hands. But on the bright side, this also allows Kk to add her own personality to the space when she comes to her new home. I finished this space in 5 days, which I have discovered to be too short of time for a makeover. :) Yes, I am the turtle when it comes to home decor races.
You can find the full makeover at U-Create Crafts. I hope you guys love this space as much as I do!! I really didn't want to leave the couple's home and head back to mine!

Seriously?! You are so amazingly talented! I absolutely LOVE it and I'm sure that little girl will love it too. And in my not-so-humble opinion, this room makeover beats the other 3 out by leaps and bounds. Thanks for sharing with us!! :)

ReplyDeleteI just came across this room re-do on pinterest - I immediately feel in love with the ceiling light fixture!! Do you have a tutorial on it? I also like the garland around the top of the door. I think I could figure that one out but if you have the tutorial for that too, that would rock :)

Deletecongratulations on making it to round 3! I LOVE this room! Is it okay that I'm a grown up and I want to paint my bed purple, too? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to hop over and check out the full room, but I just had to comment. I was IN LOVE with your horse couch!! It was one of the 3 I voted for that week and I was shocked and so sad when I saw that you didn't make it to the final round. I can't wait to check out the rest of the pictures of this room, that hot pink headboard is awesome! Congrats on making it to round 3 of CWTS, your stuff is awesome!

The room turned out beautifully! I cannot wait to see your source list, I might have to have a few things in that room! Great job in the competition, I loved your horse couch! That was beyond creative. Well just wanted to say I love your blog and think you're great!
ReplyDeleteWow Nancy that room is amazing!!! I love the color of the headboard, the rug, the $5 wallpaper, the curtains, the colorful quilt! Just fantastic! Do you want to come do my room next?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love every detail!
ReplyDeleteThe contrast between colors is one of the best parts :)
Great work!

You've got major decorating talent, my friend. I love the grey ceiling, white walls and all the touches of black and white. It's fun and funky, yet perfect for a kid. I can't wait to hear more about the details. I love the wallpaper and how it echoes the quilt. Did you do any of that quilting? I am actually getting the itch to make a quilt for my bed this summer (can't find what I want in stores). I'm going to hit you up for advice.
ReplyDeleteOh, and an unsolicited baby update: Due Sunday and baby is making no moves towards the exit. I've served her with an eviction notice :)
Ooh it's gorgeous. I love the purple bed head. So generous of you to donate your time to this family who will surely feel overwhelmed with busyness very shortly. How old is the little girl who gets this room?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Nancy! Kk is a lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that shade of purple on the bed!!! found you at whipperberry;)
