Once a sewing and home DIY blog, owen's olivia has turned its focused on quilting due to the writing of my quilt book, but my love for design is always prominent on my blog and in my life.
I am a self-taught quilter who has learned to do things my own way. Sometimes I fail and make mistakes, but I wholeheartedly believe that is a good thing, even though it may hurt at the moment.
I will always encourage you to be your best self in quilting and to do what suits you best. To motivate you to try something new and not let the world dictate to you how to do it. I firmly believe we are all artists in some way, and with that said, artists should never have to follow rules unless they want to. It is your art, not theirs.
My aesthetic is modern. Sometimes my quilts are busy and other times they are very clean and minimal. I like to think that when it comes to styles I am all over the place, but I do believe that my work has evolved over time to express me. To see a wide variety of my work, it is best visit me on Instagram.
I typically do not sew stories into my quilts. I am so visually driven that emotions rarely take center stage in my designs. I admire those who can stitch stories, but my brain does not work that way.
Here at owen's olivia you will find a mix of tutorials and quilt finishes. I occasionally share a snippet of my life here too. Blogging has decreased over time due to the demands of life, but I will always check in here once in awhile to let you know what I am creating. The day I have to stop being creative will be the day I die.
I am glad you are here. If you need to contact me, please do so at owensolivia at hotmail.com.
