I love your designs and blog, it gives me inspiration to do more and complete some projects. My design crime....The disgusting slip cover in my living room, I can't find the right fabric to recover it yet! But those pillows give me an idea.
ReplyDeleteJust one design crime? We just bought our house and there are so many crimes I'm not sure which ones to list so I will mention the worst. We have a trash bags and an old mickey mouse parade sheet (my favorite sheet from childhood) as curtains and I have 3/4 of room painted and have had guests every weekend this month so I can't finish painting. It is so embarrassing! But they still get to see the hideous striped paint they had prior and the trash bags are better than the DENIM curtains they had before us. Your blog and I are birthday buddies!
ReplyDeleteWe are packing to move into a new house (our first!) so our apartment is a disaster right now! These pillows would be great it our new place.
ReplyDeleteUmmm, I think the beige color on my walls all through my house is a major design crime... hopefully some of that will change soon!
ReplyDeleteI think another would be using a little bit of clutter as "decoration"
We haven't finished painting above the cabinents in our kitchen. I am totally blaming that one on the hubs. So, we have a half finished kitchen. If you don't look up it looks fine.
ReplyDeleteWe have lived in our house for 3 years and haven't changed a thing in our master bedroom (including the baby pink walls in the master closet)! These pillows would be perfect compliment to the teal blue rug and comforter cover I bought.
ReplyDeleteUm, how cool is that rafflecopter? Those pillows need to be on my bed. They are the perfect print and color.
ReplyDeleteWe moved in to our house two and half years ago and put in maple floors and painted every single surface of every room--- except one. The middle bedroom. It was a boy's nursery before we moved in and is not very pretty. The top half of the room is blue (not a good blue) and the bottom half is painted stripes with a cheap piece of door molding as a "chair rail." Someone tried to get fancy with masking tape and it was hit or miss. We throw all our junk in that room and shut the door. I try not to think about how long it's been that way.
So pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo many design crimes going on in my (1962) house right now! Paint peeling on the hollow doors (hate them!!) and door jams, like you--sheets on too many windows instead of actual curtains, and SOOO many surfaces that want to be painted. SOON! As soon as my baby is born...give or take 6 months or so.
Love the pillows, they would brighten up any room babscorbitt@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI still have antique white painted on my den and bedroom walls. It was the color my dad bought and painted everywhere before I moved in to my home. He even painted the trim in my bedroom, before I put my foot down and insisted on white. Colors were too expensive supposedly. Now Ive painted and renovated every other room in the house. But my bedroom is still all antique white, but at least the den has white trim.
ReplyDeleteI have a hallway full of a gallery wall set up with frames. The problem is, they still have the generic photos from the store in them because I have been too lazy to print our family pics!
ReplyDeleteomg that is too funny i do the same thing!! my boyfriend is always like 'so new friends?'
DeleteRight now I am using two filing tubs stacked together as my husband's nightstand (covered with fabric)...shhhh don't tell!!
ReplyDeleteWe have the worst living room layout but don't want to change it because it is the most open and functional, but looks horrible!

we have a mexican blanket over the window in our master bedroom. it isn't pretty and I could easily sew up curtains... just lazy lol
ReplyDeleteWe have an awful colour carpet in our hallway (my children describe it as the colour of vomit) waiting for us to be able to afford to replace it!
ReplyDeleteI still have paper blackout shades in our windows! We moved into our home in April!
ReplyDeleteI love love love the pillows! We just moved into a new apartment and I am battling my gusbands preference for solid neutrals with my live for color! This will definitely do the trick: getting some much needed color into our space!
ReplyDeleteSarah
I am redoing the bedroom and have had half peeled wallpaper hanging out for far too long. I need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteoh god my entire apartment is a design crime! i can't paint the walls because it's a rental and the walls are concrete so i can't even hang anything up! i've tried using adhesive hooks but it just takes the paint off!!
ReplyDeletei don't even have a couch in my living room right now-i'm just using a fold-up beach chair with a wine box as a table. it's pretty sad...
I'm 21 years old and my room still has my 10 year old kid furniture...these pillows would at least make my bed look a little more grown up! love them! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm using a folding card table with an iron burn through the "fabric" top as a fabric cutting table - would not be so bad but my work space is in my living room!
ReplyDeleteThe curtain rod in my daughters bedroom is too short so the curtains are now falling in the middle, it's been that way for 6 months :)
ReplyDeleteDesign crime: switching our door rug to whichever door needs it more!

Design crime, two of our pillowcases on our bed pillows are from my husband's teen years! I'm pretty sure one of them used to be white in its glory days!

I have so many design crimes to choose from.....just the fact that I've been in my "new" house for nearly two years and still have the original white paint is testament to that. I'd say the MAJOR design crime....the one I don't allow others to see....is the bamboo mat (from the Dollar Tree) that serves as a window cover. To make matters worse, it's not even neatly hung. My husband took the staple gun and basically crammed the mat and stapled. So, it's wrinkly and off center. But wait, it doesn't end there.....over the mat is an old, blue sheet to further block out light. Attractive! I constantly ask myself, "how can you let this continue?!"
ReplyDeleteOh man...so many design crimes happening right now... leather ottoman that has a too-small ikea table top lain on it so we have somewhere to set drinks comes to mind. Or the wall where we screwed a large whiteboard into, then removed, the put up a fancy mirror...without ever patching up the holes from the whiteboard. Or the crummy paint in every room... So many to choose! But at least these gorgeous pillows would distract people from the flaws!!
ReplyDeleteI used a man shirts to make a pillow cover. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are currently using two chairs instead of a coffee table!
ReplyDeleteI have plastic mini blinds in all my windows!
ReplyDeleteWe just painted our living room white and blue. It used to be brown with orange and green decor. I still have my orange curtains up and they don't match what-so-ever! EW!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows! So many crimes in my home! Weve lived in this house for over 2 years and only the living room has pictures hung in it:p Soo many unfinished projects, towels as window coverings! One day, probably just before we move, it will be done!:)
ReplyDeleteDouble design crime... the awful slip cover that's on top of the pink and blue plaid couch. Sad on top of sad!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for offering such a lovely and generous giveaway. My design crime is an unfinished coffee table redo. The coffee table is currently sitting in my living room on a giant piece of cardboard, half stripped and in bad need of TLC. It *will* happen... eventually.
ReplyDeleteI love these pillows!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are moving into our first home next month so there are a lot of crimes. I have a black sheet that I'm using instead of blackout curtains
ReplyDeleteI've had a blue twin bed sheet in my bathroom window for 3 months now. And at the moment, my living room wall paint was a big mistake and pretty much glows when te sun comes in.
ReplyDeleteRight now I have a collage of taped up scrapbook paper on my bedroom french doors... for privacy. Looks terrible from outside!
